Positive: I had a beautiful stay at Casa Kaiyō! The host, Hana, was absolutely lovely — warm, helpful, and a great conversationalist. Her rescue pup, Ziggy, was the sweetest little soul. I have pretty bad allergies, but not once did I have an issue. Ziggy never came into my room, and even when I spent hours working on the living room couch, I was totally fine. I hope she’s found her forever home with Hana — it really seems like a perfect match. The house itself is peaceful and airy, tucked into the trees with monkeys (!!) swinging just outside the window. The bed was super comfortable, the AC worked perfectly, and the kitchen had everything I needed — I cooked every single meal during my four-night stay, except one dinner in San Juan del Sur (which was a $20 taxi each way — worth noting for planning). Fair warning: the hill from the beach up to the house is no joke. It’s steep and sweaty, but it weirdly became part of the charm — I always felt amazing (and ready for a nap) after conquering it. If you’re looking for a peaceful, cozy, and beautifully hosted jungle escape with surf nearby and a sweet pup to greet you — this is your spot. 🐾🌴

Negative: The hill is BRUTAL, yall but honestly there absolutely no getting around it. AND friendly locals are happy to let you hop in the back of their trucks for a ride up OR down!

Summary: Sleep like a baby after a long day of surfing
